Arizona’s Workers Share Commitment to Our Community
Aaron Butler
President
Arizona State Building & Construction Trades Council
While we never could have predicted the challenges our building and construction trades affiliates would have to overcome over the last 20 months, what we could have predicted was that we would find ways to adapt and adjust, turn adversities into opportunities, and emerge stronger and better prepared to build Arizona’s future. That includes putting our skills to work to help our fellow Arizonans though acts of charity and kindness, even during a global pandemic and economic downturn.
I’ve been in the construction field for more than two decades. While I’ve seen many changes, one thing has been constant: building and construction workers have big hearts. Whether it’s donating toys for families in need during the holidays or spending a Saturday helping elderly homeowners with home repairs, our members are always willing to roll up their sleeves, put in the time, and help our community.
As we head into the holiday season, I want to recognize and thank each and every member of the building and construction trades unions who has gone above and beyond over the last two years to help feed our most vulnerable neighbors, to provide assistance to families dealing with wildfires and floods, and to check in on families who have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are inspired by your commitment and generosity, and honored to call you our brothers and sisters in labor.
